Government "experts" in Congress

Senator Christopher Dodd (D., Conn.), who chairs the very Banking Committee responsible for drafting the laws that govern Countrywide's market is apparently on record as not realizing he recieved a "special rate" on loans from Countrywide. Dodd's press secretary said "The Dodds received a competitive rate on their loans," and that "They did not seek or anticipate any special treatment, and they were not aware of any," then declined further comment.

Next we will hear that Exxon Chairman and CEO Rex W. Tillerson does not know the gasoline is made from oil?

As the chairman of the banking comittee, you would expect that he would know what the going rate was.

This does not pass the smell test.
